Cannes - Beautiful Boxer s director Ekachai Uekrongtham secured funding for his new project, The Coffin, from three international companies, including Thailand s TIFA (Thai Independent Film Alliance ), South Korea s Cineclick Asia, and Australia s Arclight Films.
The Coffin is a horror film in which its main character is a young lad who accepts his friends dare to sleep in the coffin for one night. Ekachai has won Hubert Bals Fund Award from Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum two months ago and now plans to begin filming in Thailand and the United States in September this year for a global release in 2006. Cineclick Asia won the right to distribute the film for Asia while Arclight Films for the rest of the world.

Arclights communication officer revealed that The Coffin was the first Thai film it funded. Earlier, the Australian company had distributed Ekachais first film Beautiful Boxer.
